Curriculum

The First Quarter is Survival Skills for Women™, a nationally known pro-gram designed to teach women basic day-to-day life skills. This self discovery program, built on adult learner principles, is a “jump start” to help single mothers better manage their household, money, health and the behavior and education of their children. Its primary goal is to help women gain the confidence needed to take charge of their lives and families and move toward a healthy life style and stable family. It is a 10-week program that includes these topics:
Assertiveness
Personal Health
Nutrition
Money Management
Child Management
Self Advocacy
Legal Rights
Coping With Crisis
Community Resources
Job Re-entry

 
The Second Quarter is devoted to Personal Development and includes another nationally known program: The Strength Deployment Inventory™. This assessment tool covers:
Understanding Personal Motivation
Relationship Awareness Theory
Conflict Management

Also included in this quarter are comprehensive sessions on:
Spiritual Formation
Reality Therapy/Choice Theory
Building Self Esteem and Confidence
Making a Personal Plan

 
The Third Quarter is devoted to Family Development with significant sessions in:
Spiritual Formation
Effective Parenting
Helping Your Children Succeed
Home Management
Budgeting and Financial Planning

 
The Fourth Quarter is devoted to Job Skill Development, Further Education and Long Range Planning. The sessions in this quarter include:
A Variety of Technical/Job Skills
Being a Life-Long Learner
Making Your Dreams Reality
Personal Mentoring & Field Work

 
At the successful completion of the First Quarter, each woman is assigned a trained and dedicated Mentor to help her walk the path through the rest of this journey. Mentors will aid in assignments, offer support and model personal accountability and healthy relationship building. Life Coaches will also guide each woman through a custom “field work” experience to reveal opportunities and resources, determine suitability and realistic plans for building her future
